September Coat Drive and Sale
Help us keep our community warm this fall and winter
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago Thrift Stores are seeking new or gently used coats and jackets for our upcoming weekend coat sale on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. All coats, while supplies last, will sell for $3.00 each regardless of name brand, size and style.
Proceeds and any left over coats from the sale will help support the St. Vincent de Paul Chicago Emergency Voucher Program. The program provides individuals and families in need with clothing, furniture, or other goods free of charge in a confidential and dignified way.
Coats can be dropped off at any one of our St. Vincent de Paul Chicago Thrift Store locations prior to the sale at 9321 S. Western Avenue, Chicago, 7010 W. 159th Street, Orland Park, or 1125 S. Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville.
"This is a good time to prepare and help people stay warm for the upcoming fall and winter season," said Stores Director Margaret Jones. "Thanks to our generous donors, our stores will offer hundreds of name brand jackets and coats for men, women, and children at one low price for those who cannot afford to buy brand new coats."
St. Vincent de Paul Chicago Thrift Stores generate needed revenue and funds to support all of the programs that the organization provides including utility shut-off prevention, emergency vouchers, and more than 40 food pantries.
The Society is funded through community donations and net proceeds from its Thrift Stores. The Thrift Stores operate with all donated materials. Most of the Society's work is done by volunteers who give countless hours to maintaining the stores and distributing financial assistance through 125 conferences (volunteer sites) throughout Cook and Lake counties.
