'Famous cookies' give back

Felix's Famous Cookies donate to St. Vincent de Paul ChicagoOn April 22, St. Vincent de Paul Chicago's Libertyville Thrift Store partnered with Felix's Famous Cookies, a locally owned family business, to raise money for the Society.

There were plenty of cookies to sample and for those who purchased a box to take home, 50% of sales were donated to SVdP Chicago. The event brought in an extra $200 in revenue from the cookie sales and plenty of extra customers making it one of the stores more profitable days.

At the ripe old age of six, Felix started the company in memory of his grandmother who taught him not only to bake but the importance of giving back. Since their very first cookie sale, it has been their family tradition to give back to non-profit organizations and the less fortunate with St. Vincent de Paul Chicago being the first.

So, when CNBC went looking for a place to film a Felix's Famous Cookies pop-up event, St. Vincent de Paul was hands down, their first choice. A camera crew filmed the event and interviewed Felix, the youngest CEO in the State of Illinois at now age 12, and his mother, Laura, as part of a television program they are producing in partnership with T-Mobile about businesses that give back.
